The Masquerade
Amidst grey castles built on water
Breathing the same sweet alley air
Rising above cupid's quiver
A vision in pink, without a care
Lit up with lanterns and a moon
That lingers on into the day
Standing on steps of restful bridges
Her masks all slip away
La dolce vita, we deserve this
They're singing about us in the square
How could they have known in Venice
That "You drink coffee & I take tea my dear"
Now that we're back
It’s clear, nothing lasts forever
But I've seen you unmasked
And my love will outlast these masquerades
You know you're my Venus, And I’m your devotee
You know you’ll have to come down, come down to meet me
I know a place where we could both 'be'
Below the heavens, above the sea
La dolce vita, we deserve this
They're singing about us in the square
How could they have known in Venice
That "You drink coffee & I take tea my dear"
